Sorry, but it's the truth Let’s review:
When there is a dance coming up I usually spend at least an hour getting ready. I go over to Jen’s house and we spend even more time getting ready and making sure that everything is perfect. I don't know why we continue to do this... after ever dance I always wonder to myself, why did I waste time getting myself all pretty for this again? I never have come up with an accurate answer. Anyway, then we go to the dance a little late so we’re not the first ones there and guess what… we spend the whole dance leaning against the wall.
Actually, not the whole time, here are the exceptions:
When looser boy asks you to dance… I’m not trying to be mean but everyone knows there’s this one guy who asks every girl to dance except the one girl that actually might ever like him even a little bit. This person also uses the same line for every girl that’s at the dance, like, “wow, the stars are so beautiful, but not as beautiful as you” That is a real life example by the way.
So the other exception is that me and Jen and aren’t the lame girls who are too cool to dance during the fast songs. I’ll Contini Joe with the best of them! We join in on circles and interact with people but guess what! When a the slow dance starts, we’re back to the refreshment table in no time.
I’m worse than most girls though cause I’ve given up. I don’t wait on the edge of the dance floor anymore, nope. I’ve stooped low enough to purposely making myself continently unavailable when a slow song starts. I usually make sure I’m thirsty right before a slow song starts and then hold the cup for the rest of the song. This is really lame, I know, but it makes me feel a little bit better knowing there was a reason I didn’t get asked to dance other than the fact the kind of magnet that you can only squish another magnet to for like two seconds before they get pushed apart.
The worst ever is this: after the dance there are a lot of people who feel the need to compare the number of times they were asked to dance. I use to say,” oh, (pretend to think about it) I don’t remember” and leave it at that but now I usually look them in the eye and say, “I got asked to dance once, what of it!?” But I’m not bitter…
